I was tasked with designing and illustrating options for an ad campaign centered around raising funds for kids who need premiere pediatric care.
Understanding that the client had come to us with clear inspiration, yet remained optimistic of what the creative team could put together for a second option. They made it clear they wanted the focus to be on the children, and how donating directly helped their cause.

When I sat down to put together options for this illustrative style, outside of the client’s goals for this campaign I focused on the kids who’d be dawning these heroic uniforms of my creation.
Making sure to honor their individual conditions, while simultaneously painting them as heroes. I wanted these fictional costumes to help the kids see themselves in a new light. This became a key factor in selling them on this direction.

After careful collaboration, the team and I ended up creating what turned out to be the chosen identity for the campaign, painting the kids as heroes, their condition as the villain and by donating, you’ll “Be a Hero, to a Hero”.
Later on, that same campaign shattered previous records for dollar amount donated, and even though we don’t do this for the awards, it won several.
